So I figured to throw some extra fun into my blog, I'd review nonchain restaurants. Today, being my birthday, my friends kidnapped me (literally, blindfolded and carried me) and brought me to Dante's, a relatively famous Atlanta fondue restaurant. We had the chocolate fondue, and it was unbelievably good. Apparently better than the Melting Pot, though I've never been there. Not only was the chocolate phenomenal (it's apparently a higher quality bean and the only restaurant in North America that stocks this bean), but the atmosphere is competely original. Six nights a week a jazz band plays, but not Mondays, which is okay because a guy who did really mellow acoustic covers played and we liked him. Dante came and chatted with us for about 20 minutes about our majors and then built up the chocolate experience, explaining to us why their chocolate is so much better than anywhere else. The restaurant kind of has a Middle Ages feel, like the Beefeater's Tavern I went to in London or Shakespeare Tavern. The also had live crocodiles. Walking in blindfolded, I heard rushing water, so I was really unsure of what place might have that.
The wait staff was friendly and Dante was funny and obviously well traveled. Great atmosphere, great food, great restaurant. I see why this is a must try Atlanta restaurant.
